The Truth Behind The Hoax
Remember that Bon Jovi death hoax just before Christmas last year..? well, someone's claimed responsibility for it and given us a reason as to why he conjured up the whole dirty affair.
It turns out that a musician from Philadelphia had gotten a little sick of constantly hearing about Bon Jovi in the press... Despite the band being on a two year hiatius, Jon Bon Jovi personally was still featuring heavily in the US press because of his new restaurant and his starring role in an US TV commercial (for Advil pain relief).
Indeed, the man who claimed responsibility, Jeffrey Goho from the band Minutia, has been quoted as saying:
"All I heard was 'Bon Jovi this,' 'Bon Jovi's starting a restaurant'... 'The Advil commercial'(featuring Bon Jovi)? It was like, 'Jeez, (Bon Jovi) was a household name due to the music, not the business.' So I'm not proud of it. I'm getting a lot of backlash from it, but as stupid as it sounds, that's how it started. I just had a blurb and went with it."
Jeffrey's little stunt may have gained his band some new fans, but from all accounts it also created a lot of hate mail for him personally. Not surprising really.
The moral of this story? If there's one thing you don't mess with, it's Bon Jovi. Not so much for the band themselves, but for the masses of fans who ADORE the ground that they walk on. Be warned.
